Artist: Maria Paula Suarez

In one of her poems, Argentine writer Alejandra Pizarnik, said she would “collect words, pin them on myself as if they were shreds and I were a nail, leave them in my unconscious, carelessly, and wake, on the horrible morning after, to find by my side a poem done.”

In this series of works, María Paula Suárez performs a similar exercise. The artist collects words and builds her work from there—Text and embroidery thread shape the works.

The use of text in art is often related to a political message or critique. However, Suárez does something different: her messages are not a protest, but rather a hymn to the details of everyday life.
